The public is advised to stay clear of restricted high-security areas at the Suva and Lautoka Ports following a serious security concern involving unauthorised access to the Fiji Gas LPG mooring facilities.
Fiji Ports Corporation Limited says individuals have breached security boundaries at the Fiji Gas LPG mooring area located within its seaside facilities at the Port of Suva and the Port of Lautoka.
The Corporation stresses that the area is a restricted, high-security zone due to hazardous cargo operations and the presence of critical maritime infrastructure.
They say any unauthorised entry into the facility is considered a major security breach and poses serious safety risks not only to those involved but also to port workers and the wider public.
They warn that interference or intrusion in the LPG mooring area threatens the integrity of infrastructure essential for ongoing and future port operations, including the safe handling of liquefied petroleum gas shipments.
The Corporation is strongly reminding members of the public that the area is strictly off-limits.
They say clear security boundaries and warning signage are in place, and these must be respected at all times.
They say any individual found trespassing or attempting to gain access without proper authorisation will be reported to the Fiji Police Force for investigation and possible legal action.
Fiji Ports is urging the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity near port facilities to the relevant authorities, emphasising that cooperation from the community is critical to maintaining the safety, security and operational integrity of Fiji’s ports.
