The Fiji Police Force has dismissed claims that the investigation into the missing Namaka drug exhibits has been closed.

Police say the Criminal Investigations Department conducted the investigation in 2020, with the case file later submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on 14th June 2022 for independent legal advice.

They say the file was forwarded to the DPP to maintain the integrity of the investigation, as it involves allegations against police officers.

Police add that the case file has not yet been returned from the DPP.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa, has reiterated Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu’s call for the responsible use of social media.

He has stressed that information shared online must be based on verified facts and not hearsay, adding that social media users have a responsibility to confirm the accuracy of information before posting or sharing it.
