Coral Coast 7s: Fiji Babas beat Seattle Barbarians 22-5

The Fiji Babas have kicked off their McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s campaign on a high, defeating Seattle Barbarians 22-5.

The Babas, made up of players from the Men’s National 7s extended squad, came into the tournament as favourites and delivered a strong opening performance.

In other men’s results, McDonald’s Mike Friday Select 7s defeated Axellerate Dominion Brothers 21-5, USA 7s beat Chennai Bulls Select 14-10, and Yaro Chiefs thrashed Japan SDS 57-0.

International Sydney Fijians edged Pacific Warriors Canada 21-19, Y-IS Kava Vacalea beat Bula Bay 7s 14-5, Ravuka Sharks thumped NZ Development 7s 22-7, Devo Babas defeated Wardens 17-5, Police Blue edged Sydney Nadi 12-10, NZ Fijian Cavaliers beat Henibua 7s 17-7, while Aussie Select 7s defeated Uso Tasi 27-12.

In the youth competition this morning, Shogun Fiji Highlanders thrashed Japan SDS 31-7, Sunnybank Dragons defeated Aqua Pro Savuiqali 12-5, Birdland Brothers beat Village Boys 22-0, Axellerate Dominion Brothers drew 12-all with Coastal Tubarua Highlanders, and Taveuni Grassroots Fiji thrashed Sydney Bula 7s 31-0.

In the women’s results, China 2 defeated Briars 17-7, China 1 beat Lillian Amazon 26-17, and Fijiana 7s thrashed Manly Mermaids 42-0.
