23-year-old Argentinian lock Pedro Rubiolo is set to boost the Bristol Bears side featuring Viliame Mata and Kalaveti Ravouvou, after signing a long-term contract with the club.
Rubiolo joined the Bears from Newcastle Red Bulls in 2024 on a three-year deal and has now agreed to extend his contract further with the club.
He has made three appearances so far this season, playing a key role in helping Bristol climb to fifth place on the table after seven matches.
Director of Rugby Pat Lam says the club is absolutely delighted that Rubiolo has chosen to commit his long-term future to the Bears.
Lam described the young forward as already one of the standout second rows in the global game, despite being just 23 years old.
Since arriving in Bristol, Lam says Rubiolo’s impact has been exceptional, quickly earning the respect of his team-mates and everyone across the club.
He praised Rubiolo’s physicality and work rate, while also highlighting his relentless competitiveness as equally impressive, noting that he fights for everything in both matches and training, an attitude that truly sets him apart.
