Fiji Airways CEO and Managing Director Andre Viljoen says right from the very outset they undertook programs to reduce costs and set a target of a 30% cost reduction.

He says this is because they envisaged that once flights return they are not going to see the same airfares for maybe 18 months to 2 years.

He says from day one they had two focuses which are to survive and the other to thrive the moment borders reopen.

Fiji will reopen its border to travel partner countries from 11th November.

The list of travel partners includes Australia, New Zealand, United States of America, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Canada, Qatar, Germany, Spain, France, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, Japan and most Pacific Island countries and Territories.

The first scheduled tourism flight to the country on Fiji Airways will be on 1st December.
