Vijay Singh Wins FedEx Cup, $10M

For the first time ever, a Fiji Islander, our international golfer, Vijay Singh has won $10 million after he completed the 4th round of the FedEx Cup this morning.

Singh finished four rounds at the Tour Championship to clinch the PGA Tour's point’s race and earn a US$ 10M bonus.

Singh won the first two playoff events, building such a large lead that no one could catch him at east Lake unless the 45-year-old Fijian withdrew or was disqualified.

He closed with an even-par 70 and finished at 9-over 289 for the tournament, far behind the leaders.

It was the second year of the FedEx cup, and the second straight year the finale lacked drama.

Tiger Woods skipped the opening playoff event in 2007 and won by such a big margin he could have skipped the Tour Championship.

Singh let out a long sigh of relief after capping one of the most successful seasons of his career. He simply needed to complete the final round at the Tour Championship to pocket $9 million with $1 million deferred.

The 48yr-old says it's a good feeling to win the FedEx Cup and the money although he failed to win the last PGA tour event of the season.
