Mother calls for transparent investigation into alleged rape of 13-year-old as Police continue investigations

A concerned mother is calling for a transparent and thorough investigation after her 13-year-old son was allegedly raped by six senior students at a school in Lautoka, with Police investigating the matter.

Speaking to fijivillage News, the mother alleges the incidents occurred over several months, from last year until October this year.

She says she reported the matter to Police last month after learning about what had allegedly been happening to her son.

The mother claims the students had threatened her son, warning him that if he reported the alleged abuse to teachers, it would tarnish his reputation and that of his family.

She says her son is not attending school as the alleged incidents have left him traumatised and fearful for his safety.

She says the incident has also emotionally affected her son, who is not eating well and has become unusually quiet.

The mother is calling for immediate action and a transparent investigation to ensure her son receives justice and is protected.

She says no child should have to fear going to school or suffer abuse when they are simply there to receive an education.

Meanwhile, Police have confirmed to fijivillage News that they have received the report and interviewed two suspects, while investigations are continuing to determine whether others were involved.

We have sent further questions to Police.
