Defence lawyer Hemendra Nagin today confirmed in the Suva Magistrates Court that they intend to have the victim available for cross examination during the sentencing hearing in the indecent assault case of a former senior executive of a publicly listed company.

The sentencing hearing will be held on 18th November.

The man was found guilty of committing the offence in his office in May 2019.

He had asked the victim personal questions, hugged her, rubbed her back and sniffed her.

The prosecution told the court this morning that they filed their sentencing submissions and victim impact statement on Monday and also sent it to the defence lawyer.

The defence lawyer said they needed more time to respond to the submissions.

Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili has adjourned the case to 18th November to give the defence some time.
