Two men are believed to have drowned in separate incidents in the last 48hours.

Police say the first case involves a 52-year-old villager of Togovere, Tavua who had been reported missing.

They say the victim had on Friday morning left to collect sand, but failed to return home.

Police adds villagers and Police conducted a search whereby the victim's body was found floating a few meters from shore.

A post mortem will be conducted to ascertain cause of death.

In the second incident reported yesterday, the body of a 61-year- old caretaker from Teidamu was recovered from the Teidamu Creek, Lautoka.

Police say circumstances surrounding his death is being investigated and a post mortem will be conducted to establish cause of death.

The national drowning death toll currently stands at 6 compared to 9 for the same period last year.
