Following successful enforcement action against illegal dumping along Savu Street in Lautoka, Litter Prevention Officers have once again identified offenders during a recent investigation along Queens Road in Wairabetia.

Head of Service Shalend Singh highlighted that after a thorough investigation, the offender was identified and issued with three litter fines stressing the offender was warned to remove the litter immediately, which he agreed to do.

Singh states that a re-inspection conducted today, confirmed that all three heaps of litter have been cleared by the offender using an excavator and a truck.

He further notes that awareness was also raised among vendors at Saweni Top regarding littering.

One offender was issued a litter fine, and the council’s rural garbage contractor was engaged to clear all litter heaps at Saweni Top, opposite Superfoods Supermarket.

The council has issued a stern warning that every effort will be made to trace and penalise litter offenders under the provisions of the Litter Act 2008.

The council is also seeking the support of public to help keep Lautoka City clean and beautiful.
