Tropical Cyclone Lusi expected to become a hurricane

Tropical Cyclone Lusi which is currently located near Vanuatu is expected to become a hurricane as it comes closer to Fiji.
Cyclone Lusi is now a category two cyclone and is still intensifying.
The current location of Tropical Cyclone Lusi is 15.9 South and 168.0 East or 1,030 kilometres West North West of Nadi.
Nadi Weather Office Director, Alipate Waqaicelua said people should be prepared for strong winds and heavy rain as the weather office continues to assess the Category Two Cyclone.
Waqaicelua said hourly assessments are being carried out and further details will be provided if the Western and Southern Divisions will be affected by Cyclone Lusi.
He said the assessments will continue as the cyclone is expected to gain hurricane status.
