Tracee Ellis Ross’s Throwback Post Couldn’t Feel More Now

Tracee Ellis Ross’s Throwback Post Couldn’t Feel More Now

Is Tracee Ellis Ross clairvoyant? It appears she is when it comes to fashion.

This weekend, the Black-ish and Mixed-ish star posted a throwback photo on Instagram that revisited a red carpet look of hers from 2016 which honestly could have been posted in 2020. The look in question is an ensemble that Ross wore to the 2016 BET Awards.

It consists of a glam sweatsuit by Vetements, including a cropped sweater and track pants.

She styled it with white stilettos, a black veil, and tons of gold jewellery, making it a perfect red carpet outfit.

Revisiting the outfit this weekend, Ross joked in her caption that “my sweatsuit looks are way different than this these days,” but you can’t deny that her elevated take on sweats from 2016 couldn’t feel more timely right now.

Being cozy and comfortable has been this year’s biggest trend—and dressing up our athleisure looks for our Zoom meetings has been a fun new fashion challenge that has come with it.

But Ross is here to remind us that she did fashion-forward sweats years before us—a woman ahead of her time. Now, we vote that Ross actually recreates the glam sweatsuit moment with a brand new fit—because if anyone can pull off a bold sweatsuit, it’s her. (And J.Lo.)

This is a woman who somehow made the pillow challenge look chic, after all.

Surely, she can nail a dressy sweatsuit one more time.
