Tawake looks to write her own history for Fiji Pearls
Fiji Pearls debutant Kalesi Tawake

Fiji Pearls debutant Kalesi Tawake says there is a lot of pressure for her to perform at the Vodafone Netball World Cup Oceania Qualifiers which starts today.

Tawake is the younger sister of Rooster Chicken Fijiana captain, Bitila Tawake who led the first Fijiana team to win the Super W competition in Australia earlier this year.

The 20 year old says her sister’s achievement is something to be proud of but she is looking forward to writing her own history.

Meanwhile the other debutants for the Fiji Pearls are 19 year old Avelina Navue and 21 year old Jimaima Nakete.

The Fiji Pearls will need to finish in the top two to secure their spot at next year’s Netball World Cup in Cape Town.

The competition will start today at the Vodafone Arena where the Fiji Pearls will take on PNG Pepes at 5.30pm while Samoa will face Tonga Tala at 7.30pm.

Tickets will be $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.
