Taveuni District Hospital now have upgraded oxygen concentrators.

This is after the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Cure Kids Fiji and Rotary partnered to provide these upgraded services for the people of Taveuni.

Oxygen is a lifesaving treatment for many severe illnesses in children, including severe pneumonia and severe new‑born illnesses, which are leading causes of death in Fiji.

Oxygen treatment has been shown to improve survival of severe pneumonia patients by 35%.

University of Auckland Pediatrician and Researcher, Dr. Stephen Howie has trained hospital staff on the maintenance of the equipment.

Successful installation of the oxygen concentrators in Taveuni has been made possible with support from ArmaCup, Vijay Singh, Pacific Direct Line, AccorHotels, and the Rotary Club of Taveuni.
