Many people, including students from 13 schools, will gather along the Kings Highway from the Koronivia Roundabout to the Rewa Bridge this Saturday for the Pacific Recycling Foundation’s Roadside Campaign to mark World Environment Day and World Oceans Day.
The yearly campaign, “Stand in Solidarity to Protect Our Environment”, is now in its third year and is growing as a strong voice for protecting the environment.
PRF Founder, Amitesh Deo says the campaign has become a strong symbol of collective responsibility.

He says it is more than just people lining a road; it is a national show of unity, urging everyone to take ownership of how we treat our environment and oceans.
Deo says PRF is thrilled to see students from 13 schools, community members, government leaders, the private sector, and development partners coming together to advocate for a sustainable future.
PRF says that the event will see participants holding powerful placards and messages that highlight the urgency of environmental protection and responsible waste management.
The founder adds that one of the most promising signs for the future is seeing so many young people taking the lead, as this is their fight as well.
He says PRF will provide them with a platform on Saturday to show their deep commitment to protecting what cannot speak for itself - the environment and the oceans.
Deo emphasises that this is not a one-off campaign but part of PRF’s long-term strategy to embed environmental consciousness into our culture.
He says they want to see these conversations continue in homes, schools, boardrooms, and communities across Fiji.
Registration for the event starts at 7.30am at the Hexagon Complex along the Kings Highway, and after the roadside line-up, there will be a “Safe Space” session where people can share poems, songs, artwork, speeches, and dance to speak up for the environment.
