Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Lynda Tabuya

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Lynda Tabuya has called on the public to stop the sharing of a gruesome video on social media of a child who was a victim in a fatal car accident in Rakiraki last week.

Tabuya says the Ministry condemns such postings which are disrespectful to the victims and their families.

She says additionally, posting such pictures could cause psychological trauma to the victim’s family members, as well as any social media user that these gruesome videos are forwarded to.

Tabuya says as the Minister responsible for the care and protection of children, she is deeply concerned with the posting of such posts and she has urged all social media users to stop this inhumane act and please think twice before sharing such posts.

The Minister says our country is built on the foundations of love and care therefore she has pleaded that whenever you come across someone in danger or need of help, please assist wherever possible and avoid using their suffering or pain for social media popularity.
