An 8-year-old has died while three remain in Hospital following separate road accidents in Vakabalea in Navua, Adi Davila Road in Nakasi and in Narewa Road in Nadi.
Police say the 8-year-old was standing in the middle of the road trying to cross to the other side when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 32-year-old man on Tuesday.
They say the victim was rushed to the Navua Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
They say the suspect will be questioned soon as investigations continue.
In another accident, Police say two children aged 8 and 9 were hit by a vehicle driven by a 42-year-old man along Adi Davila Road in Nakasi, yesterday afternoon.
They say the two victims had suddenly crossed from in front of a parked bus, resulting in the accident.
Both are currently admitted at the CWM Hospital.
In the third accident, a 9-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle driven by a 52-year-old man along Narewa Road yesterday afternoon.
Police say the victim is alleged to have suddenly crossed the road, resulting in the accident.
They say the child is admitted at the Lautoka Aspen Hospital in stable condition.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe is calling on parents, guardians, drivers and communities to work together in making our roads safe for children.
ACP Vusonilawe says as we head into the school holidays and busy weeks where large gatherings are expected to take place across the country, the Fiji Police Force is urging everyone to be alert to the movement of children on our roads.
He urges parents and guardians to closely monitor the movement of their children and continue to reinforce the importance of road safety.
