Some roads can no longer be maintained through pothole repairs - FRA

Several sections of some roads across the country can no longer be maintained through pothole repairs.

Fiji Roads Authority CEO, Jonathan Moore says this includes several sections of Princes Road, Ratu Mara Road, Ratu Dovi Road, Queens Road at Suvavou and also sections of Kings Road between Korovou and Rakiraki.

Moore says in these locations, pothole repairs do not basically work anymore and this has been caused by decades of under investment.

He says in some of the roads the repairs are starting now but work on Princes Road will start in July because having Princes Road and Kings Road under construction at the same time would cause too much congestion.

The Fiji Roads Authority has 18 pothole patching crews fixing our roads at the moment.

Moore also says people should expect some delays in the work on the four lane route along Kings Road from Rewa Bridge to Nakasi as the FRA will now stop all night works there due to speeding drivers.

The work on the four lane route was set to be completed by June but Moore says there should now be a delay of a few weeks.

Moore also says some arrogant and inconsiderate drivers continue to treat the active construction site as a highway.
