Skipper Cup competition launched, first round to kick off this week

The Fiji Rugby Union in partnership with CJ Patel today launched the Skipper Cup competition at Albert Park with representatives of the 8 unions participating in the competition present.

While delivering his speech, CJ Patel Group Marketing Manager Ashwin Prasad says they are always committed to grassroots rugby ever since when they started sponsoring the Skipper Cup Competition.

He says all the successes in our National teams including the Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua is all credited to grassroots rugby.

Prasad says they are grateful to have been partnering with Fiji Rugby over the past years and again this year and they are confident that there will be tough competition from all the teams this year.

FRU Administrator Simione Valenitabua says they ara grateful for the contributions that CJ Patel has been doing to grassroots rugby.

He says despite all the difficult circumstances and all the challenges that came with it, CJ Patel was always supporting and kept sponsoring Rugby House and they are thankful for that.

The 8 teams participating in this year's Skipper Cup Competition are Nadroga, Nadi, Naitasiri, Namosi, Suva, Yasawa, Tailevu and Macuata.

The first round of the Skipper Cup and Vodafone Vanua Championship Competition kicks off this weekend.
