Seek help and give us a chance to save your life – Empower Pacific CEO

Empower Pacific CEO Patrick Morgam

Seek help before you take your life, and give us a chance to save your life.

This is the plea from Empower Pacific CEO Patrick Morgam while speaking as a panellist during the World Suicide Prevention Day community engagement at Raiwaqa Parish Hall.

Morgam says we should be aware of the signs of people ideating to commit suicide, and assistance and support should be provided to them.

He says suicidal ideation is not a mental condition, but people who go through this are those who have lost hope.

The CEO adds they also receive calls from people trying to commit suicide, and they assist these people and save their lives.

Morgam also revealed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, they had to seek support from other agencies to assist in their work.

He says they had to call the nearest Police Post in a village in the Nadroga/Navosa Province to assist them in helping an individual who was contemplating committing suicide.

The Empower Pacific CEO says causes of suicide include depression, sickness, love life complications, family issues and domestic violence.

If you are going through some issues and need someone to talk to, you can contact Empower Pacific on 5626 or Lifeline Fiji on 1543.
