Former Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Sakeo Raikaci has made it clear that former Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and his lawyers were aware that he would be questioned yesterday as it was part of the ongoing investigation process.

This follows Sayed-Khaiyum’s claims that it seems there is a political witch-hunt in respect to a number of matters.

While speaking outside the CID Headquarters, Sayed-Khaiyum said he is also disappointed that he was not allowed to attend the full funeral service of his relative yesterday as he had to go to the CID for questioning.

While responding to Sayed-Khaiyum’s claims, ACP Raikaci says as earlier stated, the investigation team is given full autonomy to conduct their investigation and report directly to his office as the Chief of Intelligence and Investigations and do not take directions from anyone else within or outside the organization.

He also confirms that this is the continuation of the investigation into the reports lodged by the Acting Supervisor of Elections.
