Nakasi based Abbus Quality Halal Meats owner, Asad Ali says they have seen sales increase by about 30% this week and are lucky they had started preparation for the holidays about a month ago.

Ali says he started the business in January this year and has invested about $500,000.

He says they faced challenges soon after opening because of the second wave of the pandemic but they managed to pull through.

Ali has also highlighted he had a thriving construction business and had employed about 150 people but due to first wave of the pandemic last year they were not getting to work on projects and were not getting any money from investors.

He says they had to lay off 100 staff, restructure the business and tried to manage for a year but things got really tough seven or eight months along the way.

The businessman says he comes from a livestock farming background and when he got the opportunity to start a butcher shop in Nakasi, he took it with both hands.

Ali adds they now have about 15 staff working at the butcher and he is hoping to have a successful 2022 and revive the construction business.
