The committal proceedings against prominent lawyer, Richard Naidu will be called in the Suva High Court next Wednesday as Naidu's lawyer, Jon Apted says it is not 8 days from when the notice of motion was served to Naidu.

The matter was called before High Court Judge Justice Jude Nanayakkara this afternoon.

Jon Apted, Laurel Vaurasi, Mele Rakai, Subhas Parshotam, Peter Knight, Suruj Sharma and Filimoni Vosarogo are conditionally representing Naidu.

Devanesh Sharma who is representing the Attorney-General’s Office says they have no issues with serving the notice again.

The Attorney-General’s Office had earlier said they have obtained leave to bring committal proceedings against Richard Naidu in respect of a Facebook post which appeared on his Facebook page.

A statement on the Fijian Government Facebook Page said we all owe a duty to protect our Courts and Judiciary from scandal or ridicule.
