The Parliamentary Privileges Committee will continue its meeting today to look into the recent privilege matter involving Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and National Federation Party President and MP, Pio Tikoduadua.

When asked if the committee had finalised its report and recommendations earlier last night, Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Privileges Committee Veena Bhatnagar says they will continue today.

The committee comprises of FijiFirst parliamentarians Veena Bhatnagar, Dr.Mahendra Reddy, Inia Seruiratu, Alvick Maharaj and SODELPA parliamentarians, Adi Litia Qionibaravi and Mosese Bulitavu.

Bainimarama appeared before the Parliamentary Privileges Committee yesterday while Tikoduadua also made a second appearance.

One of the Prime Minister’s bodyguards also appeared before the committee yesterday.

NFP Leader Professor Biman Prasad and NFP parliamentarian Lenora Qereqeretabua appeared before the committee on Tuesday.

The Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau had told the committee to come back with their report and recommendations by today.

Parliament is then expected to debate on the Privileges Committee report before a vote is taken.

Ratu Epeli had referred the incident involving Tikoduadua personally attacking Bainimarama and the alleged incident of Bainimarama confronting Tikoduadua within the parliamentary precincts on August 9th this year, to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee.
