SODELPA MP Niko Nawaikula

SODELPA MP Niko Nawaikula says parliament does not have the capacity or the qualification to say yes or no to such an important decision like the motion which seeks to amend the government guarantee period to Fiji Airways.

While making his contribution on the motion, Nawaikula says a cost benefit analysis was not made by the Minister for Economy while he was tabling the motion in parliament.

He says Fiji Airways does not bring its financial accounts to parliament and why is parliament being asked to say yes to a request by a company that does not allow them to look at their books.

Nawaikula also questions if it is affordable to give this guarantee.

He says the Minister for Economy has failed us in his policies and his management and this was going on before COVID.

Nawaikula says Minister for Economy should resign and the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister for Sugar should also resign.

Nawaikula says Mahendra Reddy can be the Minister for Economy and Minister for Sugar and this is based primarily on performance and outcomes.
