Pacific Mini Games: Heleina Young and Naibili Vatunisolo secure gold medals for Team Fiji

Sprint sensation Heleina Young has secured another gold for Team Fiji after clocking 24.01 seconds in the Women’s 200 metres final at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau.

Also winning gold is Naibili Vatunisolo who finished first in the Women’s Shot Put Para Ambulant with a throw of 8.72 metres at 74.91% accuracy.

The 4x400 metres Mixed Relay team clocked 3 minutes and 31.77 seconds to secure a silver medal.

The team included Waisake Tewa, Heleina Young, Waisea Tuiyabayaba, and Adi Ceva Lutumailagi.

Reki Roberts jumped a distance of 11 metres in the Women’s Triple Jump to bag a silver medal.

Waisake Tewa clocked 21.60 seconds in the Men’s 200m Final to bring home a silver medal for Team Fiji.

Fiji is currently third on the medal tally with 24 gold, 30 silver and 23 bronze.

Tahiti leads the games tally with 70 gold, 40 silver and 27 bronze, while Samoa is second with 27 gold, 14 silver and 20 bronze.

Coming up in today’s competitions, Pacific long distance king Yeshnil Karan will be competing in the half marathon.

At 9am the Aquathlon Team -Mix with Fiji vs Wallis and Futuna.

Fiji will be playing the Northern Mariana Islands at 12.30pm in the Women’s 3x3 Basketball semifinal while the Men will face Tonga at 1.20pm in their semi final as well.
