Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama and FRIEND CEO, Sashi Kiran.

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama has today said in parliament that they know that non governmental organization, FRIEND is a proxy of the Opposition and claims there is a screenshot that the FRIEND CEO should pay the salaries of her staff first before helping others however FRIEND CEO, Sashi Kiran says she is flabbergasted to hear the comments and concerned about the bashing of the organization in parliament.

While speaking on NFP MP, Pio Tikoduadua's motion that Parliament approves $50 million from the COVID-19 support aid funds provided by the Governments of New Zealand and Australia to be disbursed as income support to the unemployed and affected small and medium enterprises, Bainimarama says they all know about FRIEND, civil society organizations and the Opposition.

Kiran says they will continue to amplify what is happening on the ground, and they continue to work with the Government and other organizations.

The FRIEND CEO also says they are looking after the welfare of their staff.

Kiran says the Prime Minister could have called her to verify the allegations and she does not know where this is coming from.
