Opposition in their personal hatred for AG and their obsession with ethnicity cannot see the qualities in Sayed-Khaiyum – Dr.Reddy

Minister for Agriculture Dr Mahendra Reddy says it is only critical that party leaders, the top two, should not only formulate but lead and execute the economic vision of the party and the government. He made these comments while opposing the motion by SODELPA MP Inosi Kuridrani that the Standing Committee on Natural Resources review the performance of non-sugar agriculture.

Dr. Reddy says SODELPA MPs Lynda Tabuya and Niko Nawaikula have said that the Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum should resign as he is not functioning well and is the minister for everything.

He says the opposition in their personal hatred for Sayed-Khaiyum, their obsession with ethnicity cannot see the qualities in Sayed-Khaiyum, which Dr. Reddy says is a shame.

Dr. Reddy also says Sayed-Khaiyum has time and again demonstrated his ability and attributes as a Minister for Economy.

He adds the Finance Minister’s position is of a book keeper, while the Minister for Economy ensures that all the ministries work in tandem for efficient service delivery, target the common vision of the government to improve living standards and quality of life.

SODELPA Whip, Lynda Tabuya then raised a point of order for Dr. Reddy not to grandstand but to stick to the motion.

Dr. Reddy then went on to say that Tabuya has said that they can run the economy better.
