Nightclub fight video likely from March, maintain decorum - Turaga

Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga says a preliminary investigation indicates the viral nightclub fight video of Acting Corrections Commissioner Sevuloni Naucukidi is likely from early March.

He says they have contacted the owners of the establishment and while they are yet to determine the exact date, they have sought verification from the relevant parties.

Turaga has also reiterated to the Commissioner and staff of the Corrections Service and other public office holders and civil servants that decorum is expected of all officers, especially when in uniform—whether it is Bula Friday wear or the official uniform of the Fiji Corrections Service.

The Minister stresses all officers are expected to behave responsibly during official hours and outside of official hours.

He says while social interaction is part of our way of life, he is urging everyone to remain mindful of their conduct and to uphold discipline at all times.

Turaga is awaiting a full report from the concerned parties and is expected to provide an update to the Constitutional Offices Commission and the Prime Minister once verification is complete and further information becomes available.

He says the Fiji Corrections Service falls under the Ministerial assignment of the Minister for Justice, while the appointment of the Commissioner of Corrections is the responsibility of the COC, chaired by the Prime Minister.
