About 66,000 rural men and women could potentially benefit from a new financial service launched by HFC Bank.
The Agency Banking initiative will allow the local bank to expand its banking network to over 150 Vodafone outlets.
United Nations Capital Development Fund Executive Secretary Judith Karl says remote, rural and low income communities seeking formal financial services would benefit from the agency banking initiative.
Chairman for HFC Bank Tom Ricketts says this is aimed at taking banking services out to the unbanked community with the $1.2 million funding assistance that is provided by United Nations Capital Development Fund program.
He says the HFC Bank Agency Banking services will be launched in July this year.
Ricketts says the service would allow for withdrawals, deposits, funds transfer, payments and point of sale purchases.
