Master goose stepper speaks his mind

It was back in early 1989 when the Fiji public saw the birth of world 7s rugby's goose-stepping king, Waisale Serevi.

Serevi first unveiled his magic at the TFL Stadium formerly known as the National Stadium when he played halfback for Rewa B in a National local tournament.

Back then, no one knew the man now known as the 7s maestro and he dazzled the crowd, goose-stepping many well known players.

The former Water Rates officer then went on to represent Fiji for almost 20 years - a record held by no other 7s player in the world.

Part of his record includes two World Cup 7s title wins.

Now, 22 years later, Serevi will be back tomorrow playing at the TFL Stadium in the Uprising Fiji International 7s.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Serevi said one of the most memorable moments for him in his career is when he played in the World 7s in Sydney in 1989 where he goose-stepped the then master goose-stepper, Australian David Campese.

He recalled that moment.
