A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to four years imprisonment after being convicted with a count of burglary by the Nausori Magistrates Court.
Ilai Molidua on the 24th of August this year in Nausori entered the home of a person and stole assorted items and cash to the total value of $30,000.
Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne said that with the increase number of unwanted home invasions, the public in this country are living in fear.
He adds that the criminals are brazen enough to break into houses whilst the people are staying in their homes.
Magistrate Somaratne states that to protect the public harsh sentences are warranted presently disregarding the hardships that would fall to the offenders and their families.
Molidua received a non-parole period of three years.
