The board of the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji has decided to suspend its Chief Executive Officer, Joweli Cawaki to allow investigations into matters surrounding Goundar Shipping vessel, Captain Inoke, which remains docked at the Suva Port.
Cawaki told fijivillage News today that the board has decided to suspend him to allow the investigation and to ensure transparency and integrity as the investigation proceeds.
He says it is over four weeks now on the investigation of this matter, but he has not heard anything from them.
Cawaki was appointed to the position on October 30th 2023.
Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services, Ro Filipe Tuisawau says a release will be sent out soon regarding the outcome of the discussions on the issue.
