Lot of misinformation on COVID-19 vaccine - Waqainabete
Minister for Health, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete

Minister for Health, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says there is a lot of misinformation on the COVID-19 vaccines and people have claimed that the vaccines are a mark of 666, it contains meat products, and it contains fetal products.

While speaking in parliament, Doctor Waqainabete says the licensed vaccines used worldwide are safe and side effects are minor as these vaccines are tested across multiple phases of trials before it is used.

Waqainabete adds vaccines are also regularly assessed once it is used and many more illnesses and deaths could occur without vaccines.

He further says by the time anyone in Fiji gets vaccinated, millions of people in other countries around the world would already have received their vaccines and we would have time to watch the effects of vaccines to ensure it is safe.

Waqainabete says they have developed their National Vaccination Deployment Plan and they have the right number of staff to deliver the vaccines effectively and efficiently.

He says they target 90% of individuals who are eligible to receive vaccinations and to allow the country to open its borders, and revive its economy.
