Fiji’s organic movement in the Pacific region is one of the areas that the Pacific Organic Learning Farm Network (POFLN) under The Pacific Community is working on to strengthen.

While speaking to fijivillage News at the 2024 Agriculture Show, Pacific Organic Learning Farm Network Income Coordinator Emosi Cagi says this is an area where Fiji is lacking in the Pacific as well as sustainable farming practices and also safeguards the biodiversity of our resources.

Cagi says they now have a couple of projects that have been around in their division, which is also linked through to these main visions and objectives of trying to safeguard biodiversity and also our water resources, mainly on natural resources that we have in the Pacific region that we always treasure much.

He says these are the areas they think that they would come and share with people during the event this week adding they are fortunate to be working with the Minister of Agriculture and other ministry divisions to move this forward.

He adds one of the main challenges now for them is to try to educate or to share knowledge with the youth as most of the youths nowadays have their own thoughts of how they live their lifestyle and also how they do farming practices.

Cagi says they need to drill some of these youths to take the next step forward as we won't be here for a lifetime, but the youths are the hope to carry forward the motivations, objectives and visions and spread it out to their peers.

The Agriculture Show is currently underway at the Valelevu ground and will finish this Friday.
