LTA to investigate bus accident

LTA to investigate bus accident
Raiwaqa Bus operations continue this morning with management saying it will only comment once investigations are completed into an accident involving one of its buses yesterday afternoon.

The Land Transport Authority will today investigate the reason why one of the Raiwaqa buses failed to stop along Grantham Road hitting a student walking on the footpath at 5 yesterday afternoon.

Company operations manager Mohammed Irssad said he will not say what went wrong since the matter now rests with the LTA, however, he confirmed operations continue as normal.

According to eyewitness Maikeli Tamata, the driver was allegedly speeding and could not stop in time which caused the bus to veer off the road and hit a small hill.

Tamata added that an FIT student who was walking on the footpath was injured and had been rushed to hospital.

Police are expected to question the driver today.
