Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad and FijiFirst MP Semi Koroilavesau

FijiFirst MP, Semi Koroilavesau and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad clashed on the issue of the Chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee in parliament today.

This is after Koroilavesau moved a point of order saying government should review the Chairmanship of the Committee.

Koroilavesau says there may be a conflict of interest as the Assistant Minister for Finance Esrom Immanuel is the Chairman.

While responding to Koroilavesau, Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad says it was always the convention for the opposition to the chair the committee but it was changed by the FijiFirst government and there is no conflict of interest.

There was no ruling on the point of order by the Speaker.
