Pacific long-distance king Yeshnil Karan did not feature in the half marathon at the Pacific Games this morning.

The event featured Avikash Lal who finished in 7th place.

Lal won this event in Samoa in 2019.

Karan says he has had 18km of running in the scorching heat in 4 days and if the conditions were not this harsh, he would not want to miss running in that race.

He will now focus on trying to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris next year.

Karan has 3 from 3 after winning gold medals in the 3,000 metres steeplechase event, the 10,000 metres race on Monday and the 5,000 metres event on Wednesday.

Fiji is is now in sixth place with 21 gold, 27 silver and 38 bronze.

New Caledonia is leading with 77 gold, 55 silver and 56 bronze while Tahiti is second with 51 gold, 52 silver and 50 bronze medals.
