All Blacks playmaker Josh Ioane

The Highlanders have received a timely dose of positive news, with All Blacks playmaker Josh Ioane declared fully fit to return to the field.

The 25-year-old is yet to make an appearance in the Super Rugby Aotearoa but will be available for selection for their clash with the Chiefs on Sunday, having recovered from his groin injury.

Coach Mark Hammett says they know that Ioane can play at second-five, fullback and first-five eight.

He says he is a warrior, a brave player and he is always up for a challenge.

On the other side of the field, the Chiefs will receive a huge boost from the return of All Blacks midfielder Anton Lienert-Brown, who has recovered from a head injury.

The Highlanders will take on the Chiefs at 3.35pm Sunday while the Hurricanes will face the Blues at 7.05pm Saturday.
