The fire at Caines Jannif Warehouse

The National Fire Authority is now investigating the cause of the fire that destroyed the Caines Jannif Warehouse and Tissue Manufacturers building in Carpenter Street Raiwai yesterday.

The Authority had received a call at about 1.56pm about the fire and upon their arrival at 2.05pm the two buildings were engulfed in flames.

Four fire trucks and over thirty firefighters were deployed to the scene.

The fire team received assistance from officers at the Valelevu and Nausori Fire Stations.

Flammable materials such as paper, framing timber and flammable liquids within the two buildings resulted in the quick spreading of the fire.

Caines Jannif Limited CEO Ikbal Jannif says twelve people were inside the warehouse when the fire started and they were all safely evacuated.
