Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Team Coach Gareth Baber

Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Team Coach Gareth Baber says he feels that the celebrations on social media by players such as Jiuta Wainiqolo and Napolioni Bolaca after winning gold in the Olympics was in good spirit and they were not harming anybody.

While speaking on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan, Baber says he likes to think that what was reflected in the way the players did what they did, is that even the celebrations were respectful of where we were at in Fiji.

Baber says when players returned they went into quarantine, which was necessary.

Baber also shared a story about how Bolaca struggles to keep still for even 2 minutes.

He further says you need all that in a team and in a team you have different personalities doing different things, adding that as a coach, you try and harness it and develop it for the right reasons.

Baber also says when it is not effective for the group, you have to make the player understand as to why that might be.
