The 41st Hong Kong 7s which kicks off today has been described by Coach Ben Ryan as Fiji’s final true test before the Rio Olympics in August.
Ryan says it is a test to see if everything they are looking to do is falling into place.
As HSBC World 7s series leaders and defending Hong Kong 7s champions, Fiji is a favourite to win the tournament.
In the last 40 Hong Kong 7s tournaments, Fiji has won 15 and New Zealand has collected 11 titles.
Ben Ryan has picked a powerful team to defend the title.
The team includes Jasa Veremalua, Pio Tuwai, Semi Kunatani, Isake Katonibau, Apisai Domolailai, Jerry Tuwai, Amenoni Nasilasila, Vatemo Ravouvou, Osea Kolinisau (captain), Savenaca Rawaca, Kitione Taliga and Masivesi Dakuwaqa.
Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Josua Vici were not considered for the Hong Kong tournament.
The 2016 Hong Kong 7s will start at 10.10pm today.
Fiji will take on Canada at 12.06am tomorrow in their first pool match.
They will play their second pool game against Korea at 4.24pm tomorrow before they face Wales at 8.24pm tomorrow in their last pool match.
The Cup quarterfinals start at 2.58pm Sunday, the Cup semifinals start at 7.44pm Sunday while the Cup final kicks off at 11pm Sunday.
