Fiji has recorded a historical number of tourist arrivals in the country with 619,780 visitors in 2010.
Minister for Tourism Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum said Fiji has never recorded such a significant number which is a big achievement for the tourism industry.
Sayed Khaiyum said the record has surpassed the tourist arrivals in 2009 by 80,000 to 90,000 with emerging markets bringing in the exponential growth.
Sayed Khaiyum added governments policies have helped in terms of the segmentation of the tourism market.
However, he said the industry needs to be robust in being creative and innovative in making Fiji an attractive destination.
