Flood Warning remains for flood prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Ba, Nasivi (Tavua) Nakauvadra (Rakiraki) and Nadi rivers while a Heavy Rain Warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji.

A Flood Alert remains in place for flood prone areas adjacent to and downstream of all major rivers in Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office says an active trough of low pressure with associated clouds and rain will affect the group till Sunday.

They say this may cause major flooding of low lying areas, drainage, properties, small streams, Irish crossings and businesses.

This may lead to flooding on major roads causing significant disruption to traffic flow, essential services and power supply.

The Weather Office says displacement of communities near streams and river banks due to flooding and risk of landslides.

They say major flooding of areas downstream of major rivers and coastal areas especially during high tide.

Tavua Town’s end towards Rakiraki is currently flooded and closed to all traffic, despite low tide.

The Tavua Police Station has confirmed that the heavy rain experienced last night has resulted in several roads being flooded and closed and they are still surveying the situation.

They say affected routes include Yaladro Road, Nabua Flats, Balata Road and the Rocky Bridge.

Meanwhile, the Nadi Weather Office has issued a flood warning for flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of the Ba, Nasivi (Tavua), Nakauvadra (Rakiraki), and Nadi rivers.
