Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O'Connor has confirmed that the 2022 Fiji Super 7s Series will have five tournaments compared to four played this year.

O'Connor says the 5th and final leg of the Series will be played in Labasa.

He says this will assist in the preparation of the national 7s team for the Commonwealth Games that will be held from the 28th of July to the 8th of August next year in England.

The CEO adds this will also be part of their preparation for the Rugby 7s World Cup that will take place from the 9th to the 11th of September 2022 in South Africa.

The first leg of the Fiji Super 7s Series will be held on the 14th and 15th of January at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

Meanwhile, the Fiji 7s team is in Dubai preparing for the first leg of the HSBC 7s Series this weekend.

The Fiji Men’s 7s team will open their campaign against France at 7.22pm Friday and then take on Canada at 10.52pm in their second game. Fiji will take on Australia at 3.33am Saturday in their last pool game.

The Fijiana 7s team will play Ireland at 5.22pm Friday in their first pool match and they will take on Canada at 8.56pm in the second game. They will face Russia at 3.05am Saturday in the third game and play Great Britain at 9.07pm Saturday in their final pool game.

The cup quarterfinals will begin at 6.28pm Saturday, the cup semifinal will start at 10.18pm Saturday and the final will be played at 3.26am Sunday.
