Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Team has qualified for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan after defeating Samoa 26-17 in the London 7s to make it to the quarterfinals.

A quarterfinal finish in London was enough for Fiji to guarantee a top four spot for the season and qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The Fiji Airway Men’s National 7s team will now play Ireland in the fourth quarterfinal of the London 7s at 11.04 tonight.

Fiji topped Pool B after winning all their pool games.

They defeated Samoa 26-17 in their last pool match.

They earlier beat Kenya 24-17 in their first pool match, and defeated France 31-10 in their second pool match.

Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Team Captain, Paula Dranisinukula is happy with how the team has been performing in the World 7s Series as they have now secured a spot to defend their title in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Dranisinukula says the boys have worked hard to qualify.

World Rugby congratulated Fiji and USA for being the first two of four teams that have gained automatic qualifications to the Olympics.

In other quarterfinals, South Africa will take on Australia,

New Zealand will face France in the second quarter-final while USA will take on Canada in the third quarterfinal.

The quarterfinals will start at 9.58 tonight, Cup semifinals will start at 1.48am tomorrow and the Cup final will be played at 4.57am tomorrow.
