With the 2024 Paris Olympics coming up in July, the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side has one more tournament in the 2023/2024 HSBC SVNS World Series to redeem themselves and prove the point of wanting to secure their third Olympic gold medal.

The side will be leaving our shores this weekend for the upcoming HSBC Madrid 7s that will kick off next Friday and sure enough, they will also be looking to break their 20-tournament losing streak.

Coach Osea Kolinisau and his coaching management are now racing against time to come up with the right combination at the Madrid 7s and he is most likely to be under a lot of pressure to try and sort things out within the time frame that he has before the Olympics.

The Fiji Men are in a pool of death in the upcoming Madrid 7s and are in Pool B alongside Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa.

In Pool A, Series winners Argentina is pooled alongside Australia, France and Great Britain.

There will only be 8 teams competing in the main competition while 8 teams will be competing in the pool qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s are in also in the women’s main competition and are in Pool B alongside Australia, France and Ireland.

The Madrid 7s will be held from next Friday to Monday.
