“Being a pilot is not only a man’s career”.
This is the sentiments shared by Fiji Link’s first ever female captain, Hartlene Yuen.
As Fiji link celebrated its 1st birthday this morning at Ratu Sukuna Park, they also revealed Yuen as Fiji’s first female captain for their ATR fleet.
Yuen says that her career started when she was a little girl as she used to go on holidays in the Western Division with her family.
The 29-year-old says that seeing planes take off from airports inspired her to become a pilot.
The mother of two shared her experiences and challenges while training.
She says that this career is really rewarding and exciting and there is no reason why females could not take up this challenge.
Meanwhile, Fiji Link rebranded from its former name, Pacific Sun to coincide with the arrival of its first brand new ATR 72‑600 aircraft on June 6th 2014 at Nausori airport.
