Fiji Bati beats Italy, qualifies for RLWC quarterfinals

The Vodafone Fiji Bati are through to the Rugby League World Cup quarterfinals after defeating Italy 38-10 in their last pool match.

The Bati scored seven tries with Suliasi Vunivalu clinching a hat-trick while Kevin Naiqama, Henry Raiwalui, Marcelo Montoya and Braden Williame all scored a try each.

The Bati were leading 12-4 at halftime.

Captain Kevin Naiqama says they are looking forward to meeting either Tonga or New Zealand next weekend.

Meanwhile, Apisai Koroisau won the Man of the Match award after his outstanding performance.

The Bati continued with their brilliance as they changed gear in the second half to shut out the Italians.

Titans star Jarryd Hayne was instrumental along with playmaker Henry Raiwalui as they continue to work on their combinations.

Big Viliame Kikau also had a grand game making some huge hits and strong runs.

The Vodafone Fiji Bati will now await the result of the match between Tonga and New Zealand.

The loser of this match will meet the Bati in the quarters.
