Vodafone Fiji 7s team to Rio Olympics:

Osea Kolinisau (C), Apisai Domolailai, Jasa Veremalua, Josua Tuisova, Kitione Taliga, Leone Nakarawa, Samisoni Viriviri, Savenaca Rawaca, Semi Kunatani, Vatemo Ravouvou, Viliame Mata, Jerry Tuwai.

Travelling Reserve: Masivesi Dakuwaqa

Telecom Fijiana 7s team to Rio Olympics:

Ana Roqica (C), Asenaca, Lavenia Tinai, Litia Naiqato, Luisa Tisolo, Merewai Drumu, Raijeli Daveua, Rebbeca Tavo, Rusila Nagasau, Timaimai Ravisa, Timaimai Tamoi, Viniana Raiwai.

Travelling reserve: Joana Sauto

 

The 24 athletes who will represent Fiji in the women's and men's Rugby Sevens at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next month have been named by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

The 13 players who have been selected in the Fiji 7s men's team are captain Osea Kolinisau, Apisai Domolailai, Jasa Veremalua, Josua Tuisova, Kitione Taliga, Leone Nakarawa, Samisoni Viriviri, Savenaca Rawaca, Semi Kunatani, Vatemo Ravouvou, Viliame Mata and Jerry Tuwai.

Masivesi Dakuwaqa is the travelling reserve who will be staying outside the games village in Rio.

While announcing the team, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said that this signals an exciting new chapter in Fiji's Olympic history

Bainimarama adds that the excitement and pride which is building around the sevens in Rio is brilliant.

Meanwhile Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan says it has been a long road and a tough five weeks for him to select the best team.

Ryan adds that he knows the high expectations of every Fijian around the country and believes he has done his absolute best to prepare the team.

Meanwhile the Telecom Fijiana team to Rio includes captain Ana Roqica, Asenaca, Lavenia Tinai, Litia Naiqato, Luisa Tisolo, Merewai Drumu, Raijeli Daveua, Rebbeca Tavo, Rusila Nagasau, Timaimai Ravisa, Timaimai Tamoi, Viniana Raiwai while Joana Sauto is the travelling reserve.

Both teams will undergo two more weeks of training at the Uprising Beach Resort training camp before leaving for Rio on the 26th of this month.

Fiji will take on Brazil in their first Rio Olympics pool game at 4.30am on August 10th, they will then face Argentina at 9.30am before taking on USA at 4.30am on August 11th.
